This collection contains: a printed letter from the President of the universitry to the Jefferson County Commissioners stating that two students are allowed to attend the university free from each county of the state (1843); a letter to Governor Conrad Baker to Cyrus Nutt (President of Indiana University) asking for more funding (1/9/1871); a letter to Governor Hendricks from C. Nutt asking for suggestions and comments on their programs along with an annual report (2/20/1875); two letters from Lemuel Moss (President of the school) to Governor Porter sending the annual catalogue and report to the State Printer and asks that the publications be done is a speedy manner (3/17/1881 and 4/11/1881); a typewritten report suggesting that the Indiana Medical College (Indianapolis, Ind.) become apart of Indiana University.

Lemuel Moss served as president of Indiana University 1875-1884. Born in Boone County, Kentucky, Moss was a printer by trade but also worked as a pastor before entering higher education. In 1865, Moss became professor of theology at the University of Lewisburg (now Bucknell), where he remained until 1868.
